Direct Links for iOS 8.1.3 and Installation Guide for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch [Instruction]

Finally iOS 8.1.3 update has become live and users who have Apple iDevices that support iOS 8 firmware can install this new operating system version. It is possible to use direct links for iOS 8.1.3 download for further installation through iTunes or go with the Over the Air upgrade process.

If you are still not sure if your model is supported, note that all iPad Air and mini versions can run iOS 8.1.3, iPod touch 5G users can also update and users with iPhone 4S and newer models, including iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, can also update.

How to Install iOS 8.1.3 on iPhone 6 / 5S / 5c / 5 / 4S / 6 Plus

Just as we noted above you can use either OTA update or direct links. Any version is ok, though users who might like to jailbreak in the future [right now there is no iOS 8.1.3 jailbreak] are advised to update via iTunes through direct links.

The firmware solves some issues and bugs, improves system performance and makes it more stable.

Method 1. Update using Direct Download Links for iOS 8.1.3

Step 1. You will have to use iTunes in order to update using this method. Launch it after you take a USB cable to connect the iPhone or any other device you have to your Mac or PC.

Step 2. Let iTunes detect your gadget and press on your device button which will appear in your top right iTunes corner.

Step 3. If you are planning to download the firmware file directly, here are the links:

iPhone 5 CDMA
iPhone 5 GSM
iPhone 4s

For iPad owners

iPad 2 Wi-Fi and 3G CDMA

For iPod Touch 5G users

iPod touch 5 gen

Select your model above and download the file. It must not be auto unzipped so better use Firefox / Chrome instead of Safari for this or turn off the auto unzip option in Safari.

Once the file has been downloaded you need to press-hold Shift on Windows or Option on Mac while clicking on Check for Update in iTunes. Click on Update when the program tells you it is ready to install the firmware.

Step 4. If you don’t want to use the links above you have to skip Step 3 and use this once instead. Just press on Check for Update on iTunes without clicking on anything else and let the program download iOS 8.1.3 automatically for you. Choose to Update then and wait till the firmware is installed and your gadget reboots.

Step 5. After you have successfully installed the update you will find on-screen instructions on how to start using the iDevice.

Method 2. iOS 8.1.3 OTA Update

Step 1. This upgrade can take from a few minutes to about an hour so users should plug in their gadgets to avoid battery drain before the installation is over.

Step 2. Use Wi-Fi connection as cellular connection can be pretty expensive for the download.

Step 3. Launch Settings on the iPhone.

Step 4. Click on General menu.

Step 5. Select Software Update menu.

Step 6. When your system informs you that it can update to iOS 8.1.3 allow it doing so by clicking on Download.

Step 7. Click on Install after the file has been downloaded.

Step 8. That’s it. You should be running iOS 8.1.3 once everything is completed.

P.S. Before you install anything you should better backup your iPhone or other device through iCloud or iTunes.
