How To Turn Off WhatsApp Read Receipt in iOS 8

If you don't know how to turn off WhatsApp read receipt iOS 8 option then here is helpful guide for you. The two blue check marks that are located next to your messages in WhatsApp conversations are Read receipts.

They indicate that your contact has for sure read and save your message. In some case it can be useful feature, when for instance you want to check if your friend read your message. Also it can be a superfluous option, because you can’t really pretend you haven't read a message if you actually had.

You can easily resolve this problem with WhatsApp recent update that allows you to disable and enable Read receipts at your will. Now I’ll show you how to disable WhatsApp Read receipts.

How To Turn Off/On WhatsApp Read Receipt in iOS 8

Please note that if you disable Read receipts, you will not send Read receipts, but you will also not be able to see other’s Read receipts. As always - everything or nothing!

Step 1: In WhatsApp, navigate to Settings > Account > Privacy.

Step 2: Toggle off the Read receipts feature, as shown on the picture below.

The work is done quickly and easy.

It’s definitely a simple process and takes few seconds. But remember that if you disable this option on your device, you unfortunately won’t be able to see other person’s Read receipts.

For those users that have a jailbroken iOS 8 iPhone, there is also tweak in Cydia that is called WhatsApp Read Receipt Disabler. It allows to turn off WhatsApp read receipt option. It doesn’t show read receipts on the sender’s side of the conversation. The sender will see only two grey check marks indicating that the message was delivered successfully. But this tweak doesn’t let you hide read receipts on a per contact basis, but instead turns off receipts for all conversations user have.
