How To Read Message In iMessage Without The Sender Knowing You Saw It

You can easily turn off read receipts, which hides the fact that you have read a message from the sender. The sender will still see the "delivered" status, so they can be assured the message arrive on your iPhone. They just won't know if or when you have read the message.

Method 1: Toggle off read receipts option

Step 1: On your iOS 10 device had over to Settings.

Step 2: Click on Messages.

Step 3: Then disable ‘Send Read Receipts’ toggle.

That's it. It's that simple. By turning off read receipts, you'll turn off the ability of other people to know that you've read an iMessage sent to you.

Method 2: Use 3D Touch “Peek” trick

When you have iPhone with 3D Touch feature you can enable it on an iMessage thread in the conversation view in the Messages app, so it will be possible to view the new and recent messages from its conversation thread. Using this trick, the new message won’t be marked as ‘Read at …'.
