Downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 5.0.1 on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S

The popular iOS developer and researcher, iH8sn0w, who is responsible for the creation of Sn0wbreeze, iReb, iFaith and also f0recast has been working hard again attempting to resolve a problem that has been tainting the experience of the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S owners. The hacker has found the exploit that will allow A5 device users to downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 5.0.1.

The iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are run by the A5 processor, and as any jailbreak fan knows, it hasn’t earlier been possible to perform firmware downgrades on these two devices. When Apple launches a new version of iOS, they quickly stop signing the older firmware, which means that any official restores result in the user setting up the newest official iOS version onto their gadget.

In typical situations, going to the newest iOS 6.1.3 is not actually a big problem for standard users. Nevertheless, the issue takes place when iDevice owners who want to perform a jailbreak update their software, leaving them having to wait with patience till the Dev-Teams create a working, distributable jailbreak for that fresh iOS version.

On older gadgets, users can usually benefit from a firmware downgrade to versions of iOS that Apple no more signs once they have the relevant SHSH blobs saved for that firmware.

Cydia automatically grabs any available blobs and update the users’ Cydia app using the blobs that have been saved. Jailbreak fans additionally use the popular and highly effective TinyUmbrella tool in order to quickly and efficiently get available SHSH blobs and save them locally on their devices for use later on.

Even though we've had the iPad 2 since March 2011, and the iPhone 4S since October, there has not been a method available to let users downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 5.0.1 on these A5 powered devices meaning that a restore is necessary for any reason that the newest firmware version would be installed.

Canadian iOS developer and hacker iH8sn0w states to have found a loophole in Apple’s APTicket system that helped him to successfully downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to 5.0.1 on his iPad 2.

The good thing is that he also believes that the loophole he has found will even allow firmware downgrades on Apple’s new iPad 3 running on the A5X processor. Of course this will only be possible when new firmwares become available mainly because that all new iPads were shipped with iOS 5.1, which is the current version.

The news simply means that the iPad 2, the new iPad and the iPhone 4S owners have finally been invited to the downgrade party and now they can downgrade iOS 6.1.3 to iOS 5.0.1.

Three Methods to Jailbreak iPad 3 On iOS 6.1.3

When new iPad had been released the one question raised: How to jailbreak iPad 3. There are many speculations on this case but I couldn’t find the right method. But when I had visited Dev Team blog I found some good news.

Lately we have shown you video where you can see the jailbroken iPad 3 on iOS 6.1.3. This jailbreak was performed by famous hacker i0n1c. But this method is not only one.

Let’s see what guys from the Dev Team said about all this:
We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 6.1.3.  That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3.  That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 6.1.3.  As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above.  That would be great news!
We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene: @phoenixdev
That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak!  As always, keep in mind this is very preliminary progress, and it’s impossible to predict how or when these things turn out.  The only thing you need to remember is the golden rule:
Don’t update your new iPad3 past whatever iOS it comes shipped with
However it is still lots work to do. It is not easy but guys from the Dev Team have a good start. If you are waiting for iPad 3 jailbreak then stay tune with us and you will find out if it comes.

Jailbreak of iPad 3 is Coming Soon

iPad 3 was released. Now everyone can buy and test it on his own. But what about jailbreak of iPad 3?

The iPhone Dev-Team has noted that the way iPad 2 was jailbroken about 4 months ago can be replicated on iOS 6.1.3, offering at least a platform that the jailbreak can eventually be forged:
We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad 2 4 months ago (before corona) still works even in 6.1.3  That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad 3.  That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story
The German hacker, i0n1c, is also working on jailbreak of iPad 2 which is also considered as a promising step in iPad 3 jailbreak. The method is completely unrelated to the method mentioned above.
Pod2g, has also ordered his iPad 3 and it’s being shipped right now. He is working actively these days in finding vulnerabilities on iOS 6.1.3, any progress achieved will be good for both iPad 2 and iPad 3 Jailbreak
If you wanna do a jailbreak of iPad 3 you have to know one golden rule. All the above progress relates to the present iOS version (iOS 6.1.3). Apple may launch newer version at any time, consecuntley, Apple may close all the above hols. If you decide to do jailbreak of iPad 3, don’t update your new iPad past whatever iOS it comes shipped with.

But still jailbreak of iPad 3 is in progress, just keep in mind that it’s not the sort of thing that can be developed overnight, and it’s difficult to predict how or when these things turn out, stay tuned.

Pod2g is Currently Working on Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 | Untethered

People who haven't yet upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 will soon have the ability to move to the most recent firmware. We could expect to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 untethered in the near future as the well-known hacker Pod2g is currently working hard to find the exploits to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3. Pod2g hacker himself confirmed through Twitter in response to question by a user concerning the release of the new iPad untethered jailbreak, he replied that is currently “working actively to find vulnerabilities in iOS 6.1.3".

Those people that missed, pod2g is a well-known hacker who found the exploit used in Corona and Absinthe iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 as well as all A4 devices. The exploit was put into Corona and Redsn0w (for A4 devices) plus in Absinthe (for A5 devices) by the Chronic and iPhone Dev Team.

Nevertheless, Absinthe is actually a userland exploit, it's already patched in iOS 6.1.3  so it doesn't work with the newest iPhone 4S firmware. However those people who have updated to 6.1.3 in their older devices such as iPad, iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 3G and 4G can jailbreak their gadgets with updated Redsn0w 0.9.15b3, which is now tethered. You can also use it as semi-tethered making use of the “SemiTether” package available in Cydia.

If you would like jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 untethered, you can simply wait as Pod2g will soon be updating on it. So, stay with us and you will know all the latest news concerning not only to jailbreak untethered, but many other news about iPad and iPhone.
